Plastic Surgery Opportunity

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Horizon Health Network seeks a Plastic Surgeon specialist for the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton, NB. This is an opportunity requiring the Royal College of Canada certification in plastic surgery. The position offers an opportunity for a busy surgical practice in general plastic surgery including hands, reconstruction, and cosmetic surgery. 

 

This is a fee for service opportunity with guaranteed weekly OR and ambulatory clinic time. The service is complemented by a day surgery unit at a second facility just 25 km away in Oromocto. Call is 1 in 4. 

 

We are a teaching centre with both residents and medical students. The candidate should have interest and recent experience with Medical Education of students.

The Chalmers Hospital is a regional referral hospital with all major surgical services on site with the exception of cardiac and neurosurgery. With 314 beds and a 9-bed intensive care unit, the Chalmers Hospital serves a catchment population of approximately 175,000. It is also a training site for the Dalhousie University Family Medicine Program. 

 

 

 

HOURS OF WORK

·        As per assigned schedule

 

JOB DUTIES:

·        Provide outpatient and inpatient service for assessment and management of new and follow-up patients.

·        Participate in an equally shared on-call rotation.

·        Teaching responsibilities for residents and medical students.

·        Participate in medical practice that is compatible with the Health Authority’s mission, values and strategic directions.

·        Other duties that may arise by circumstance and may be assigned by the Department of Plastic Surgery.

 

 

REMUNERATION:

Remuneration is fee-for-service which is a direct compensation between the physician and Medicare of New Brunswick

 

INCENTIVES:

·        Moving Expense Allowance

QUALIFICATIONS:

·        Candidates must be eligible for an unsupervised licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick.

·        Plastic surgery specialty certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada

·        In accordance with immigration requirements, preference will be given to Canadian citizens and Permanent Residents of Canada.

·        Excellent communication, interpersonal and team-building skills.

·        Physically able to perform assign duties.
